The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) is one of the largest trade associations in Bangladesh having more than 5000 Members representing the woven garments, knitwear and sweater sub-sectors of the RMG industry. Starting its journey in 1983 with only 134 members, today BGMEA represents an industry that is at the backbone of Bangladesh’s economy. Since the inception, BGMEA is dedicated to promote and facilitate the apparel industry through policy advocacy to the government, services to Members, ensuring workers’ rights, social compliance at factories, efforts to get market access, exploring new markets and other promotional activities.

Over the three decades of journey, the RMG industry has been confronted with many challenges in the national and international arena. To respond to the changing global business context, BGMEA has been playing a dynamic role to protect and promote the industry and the community. Some of the successes have set unprecedented examples in the history of Bangladesh’s industrial sector, for instance elimination of child labor, empowering women, and poverty eradication.

Since year 1989, BGMEA has been annually organizing BATEXPO which is one of the largest expositions in the Asia-Pacific region to promote the trade and to explore the new and emerging market throughout the globe to brand Bangladesh in a different way and to attract the foreign buyer. This year BATEXPO is going to strides on its 22nd landmark year.
