Women empowerment vital for desired development

Empowerment of women is vital for achieving desired development of Bangladesh, said BGMEA Vice President (Finance) Mohammed Nasir.
The apparel industry has created employment for more than 3 million women, mostly poor and vulnerable. Employment of these women, who have little or no formal education at all, in any formal sector would have been impossible had there not been the RMG industry in Bangladesh, he said while addressing an experience sharing session as special guest.
Business Climate organized the session on factory based training model for women workers at a city hotel on 18 March.
President of CEBAI and former President of BGMEA Md. Atiqul Islam attended the program as chief guest while Managing Director of Business Climate AKM Shahid Zaman and Director of CARE Bangladesh Humaira Aziz were also present.
