A delegation from Hohenstein Group, Germany, a leading international service provider specializing in testing, certification, research, and development, met with BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan at the BGMEA Complex in Dhaka on 11 November 2025. 

The delegation included Dr. Stefan Droste, Managing Director & Group CEO; Ms. Julia Mecheels, Member of the Advisory Board; and Dr. Md. Kamruzzaman, Managing Director of Hohenstein Laboratories Bangladesh Limited.

The discussions focused particularly on promoting environmental sustainability through initiatives such as the ‘MADE IN GREEN’ label -- a traceable product label for sustainably produced textiles that are safe for human ecology, environmentally friendly, and socially responsible.

BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan emphasized the need for a unified code of conduct for social and environmental compliance to help reduce audit fatigue among suppliers.

He also highlighted the DNA testing of fabrics to identify fiber origin and inquired whether Hohenstein could provide such testing services in Bangladesh.

President Mahmud Hasan Khan urged Hohenstein to consider reducing the cost of STeP certification for Bangladeshi suppliers, especially BGMEA member factories, to make sustainable certification more accessible and affordable.
