On 10 November 2025, a delegation from the Japan Textile Importers Association (JTIA) met with BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan on Monday. During the meeting, the Japanese buyers expressed their interest in importing high-value, fashionable garments from Bangladesh.

The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral trade, particularly on how both sides can work together to increase garment exports from Bangladesh to Japan. The BGMEA President urged Japanese buyers to increase sourcing of garments from Bangladesh.

BGMEA leaders requested the JTIA delegation’s support to simplify visa procedures for Bangladeshi businesspersons traveling to Japan.

To reduce lead time, the Japanese delegation advised on simplifying customs procedures in Bangladesh and improving operational efficiency at Chattogram port.

Under the leadership of BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan, the BGMEA team participating in the discussions included Senior Vice President Inamul Haq Khan Vice President Md. Shehab Udduza Chowdhury, Director Mohammed Abdur Rahim, Director Nafis-ud-Doula, Director Sumaiya Islam, Director Fahima Akhter, Director Joarder Mohammed Hosne Quamar Alam, Director Rumana Rashid, and Director Mohammed Sohel.
