An Employers’ Workshop was successfully held yesterday (28 December 2025) under the joint initiative of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP).

The workshop was graced by Mirza Ali, Managing Director of Bitopi Group and former Vice President of BGMEA, as the Chief Guest. The session was chaired by Rumana Rashid, BGMEA Director and Managing Director of Rumana Fashion Limited. Munir Chowdhury, Chief Coordinator of the SICIP–BGMEA Program, was present as the Special Guest.

The workshop featured important discussions on skills development in the industrial sector, strengthening employer–skills linkage, and ensuring sustainable competitiveness. Speakers emphasised that sustainable progress of the readymade garment industry can be achieved through demand-driven skills development aligned with industry needs.

It is noteworthy that the SICIP program is being implemented by the Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance with support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The entire event was moderated by Mohammad Ashfakur Rahman, Coordinator, Job Placement and Database, SICIP–BGMEA Program. The workshop was held at the premises of Bitopi Group with their kind cooperation.
