The Steering Committee of 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐁𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐗𝐏𝐎) 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 met with Ms. Shama Obaed Islam, MP, Hon'ble State Minister - 2, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh (MoFA), in Dhaka today (30 August 2026).

The Steering Committee members included Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Director, BGMEA (Chief of Coordination); Nafis-Ud-Doula, Director, BGMEA (Member); Ms. Sumaiya Islam, Director, BGMEA (Member); Khan Monirul Alam (Shuvo), Chairman, Standing Committee on Branding BGMEA (Member); Sajedul Karim, Chairman, Standing Committee on Trade Fair & Events (Member); and Mohammad Masud Kabir, Chairman, Standing Committee on Press, Publication and Publicity (Member).

During the meeting, the Steering Committee provided an overview of BATEXPO 2026 highlighting its significance as the mega-event aims to showcase the strength, capabilities, innovation and evolving landscape of Bangladesh’s apparel and textile industry to the world.

The Committee sought the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ cooperation in successfully organizing BATEXPO 2026, particularly in facilitating the invitation and participation of high-level international guests, global buyers, policymakers and industry stakeholders in the event.

The delegation also requested the Ministry’s support in strengthening the positive global branding of Bangladesh’s apparel industry, especially in key export markets, through Bangladesh’s diplomatic missions around the world.

Recognizing the importance of BATEXPO for strengthening the country’s global image and industry positioning, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its appreciation for the initiative. The Hon’ble State Minister assured the BGMEA delegation of the Ministry’s full cooperation and support in making BATEXPO 2026 a success.

Dr. Syed Muntasir Mamun, Chief Innovation Officer and Director General, and Md. Mosharaf Hossain, Director General at MoFA also participated in the meeting.

Organized by BGMEA, the two-day mega-event BATEXPO 2026 will bring together global buyers, industry leaders, policymakers, media and influencers in Dhaka—creating a platform to experience Bangladesh’s capabilities, explore innovation, foster collaboration and build new business connections.
