BGMEA Delegation Meets Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs: Calls for Easier On-Arrival Visa Access for International Buyers

A BGMEA delegation comprising M. Shajedul Karim, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Trade Fairs and Events; Mohammad Masud Kabir, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Press, Publications and Publicity; and Mamun Reza, Chairman of the Market Development (South Africa) Committee, paid a courtesy call on Manzur Morshed Chowdhury, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

During the meeting, the delegation briefed the Senior Secretary on the current overall situation of Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) industry, highlighting its prospects, opportunities, and ongoing challenges. They also presented various strategic initiatives undertaken by BGMEA to expand market access and strengthen Bangladesh’s presence in emerging and non-traditional markets.

Referring to some practical challenges affecting global market expansion, the BGMEA representatives noted that buyers from various countries in Latin America, the Middle East, and South Africa often face difficulties in obtaining on-arrival visas when traveling to Bangladesh. They requested the support of the Ministry of Home Affairs in simplifying and streamlining the on-arrival visa process to make it more efficient, faster, and user-friendly for foreign buyers.

The Senior Secretary listened attentively to the delegation’s concerns and assured them that the issues raised would be given due consideration and that necessary and effective measures would be taken to address them.
