রপ্তানি পণ্যের চালান: জাহাজীকরণে অনিশ্চয়তা কাটাতে বন্দরের ৭ সিদ্ধান্ত সিঙ্গাপুর, কলম্বোসহ বিভিন্ন ট্রান্সশিপমেন্ট বন্দরে জট ও বড় জাহাজের সংকটে ঈদের আগে চট্টগ্রাম বন্দর থেকে তৈরি পোশাকসহ অন্য রপ্তানি পণ্যের চালান জাহাজীকরণ নিয়ে অনিশ্চয়তা দেখা দিয়েছে। রপ্তানি পণ্যবাহী ও খালি কন্টেইনারে পূর্ণ হয়ে উঠছে বেসরকারি ডিপোগুলোও। সংকট উত্তরণে বন্দর ও স্টেক হোল্ডারদের জরুরি বৈঠকে নেওয়া হয়েছে ৭ সিদ্ধান্ত। এসব সিদ্ধান্ত কার্যকর হলে সংকট নিরসন হবে বলে আশা সংশ্লিষ্টদের। বিজিএমইএর প্রথম সহসভাপতি সৈয়দ নজরুল ইসলাম দেশ রূপান্তরকে বলেন, ঈদুল আজহার আগে বিভিন্ন পোশাক প্রতিষ্ঠানের বিপুল পরিমাণ রপ্তানি চালান জাহাজীকরণের শিডিউল রয়েছে। বেসরকারি ডিপোগুলোতে জটের কারণে রপ্তানি পণ্যবাহী বিপুলসংখ্যক ট্রাক বা কাভার্ড ভ্যান পণ্যের চালান আন স্টাফিং করার জন্য ৮-১০ দিন বিভিন্ন আইসিডির বাইরে অপেক্ষা করছে। এ অবস্থায় রপ্তানি পণ্য জাহাজীকরণ নিয়ে উদ্বিগ্ন পোশাক রপ্তানিকারকরা।

The National Technical Advisory Committee on Covid-19 had been recommending the government to impose stricter lockdown for some time over concerns that if this move is not implemented, the already rising infections across the country will spiral out of control. Team Group Managing Director Abdullah Hil Rakib, also a director of the BGMEA, said, "We are under pressure to ship winter apparels within July to August. As the lockdown is in place, we do not know what to do. But we will have to comply with the government decision." "Due to the ongoing lockdown and shipping crisis, the apparel exporters get raw materials after one month of ordering those. For the same reason, we also have requested the buyers to accept the shipments at the end of July, which were supposed to be shipped in May."

১৯ জুলাইয়ের মধ্যে পোশাকশ্রমিকের বেতন–ভাতা দেওয়ার আহ্বান তৈরি পোশাকশিল্পের শ্রমিকদের গত জুনের বেতন ও ঈদ বোনাস ১৯ জুলাইয়ের মধ্যে পরিশোধের আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন শ্রম প্রতিমন্ত্রী বেগম মন্নুজান সুফিয়ান। তিনি আরও বলেন, ঈদে সরকারি ছুটির সঙ্গে মিলিয়ে পোশাকসহ সব শিল্পের শ্রমিকদের বদলি ছুটি পাওনা থাকলে সে বিষয়ে আলোচনা করে সিদ্ধান্ত নেবেন মালিক ও শ্রমিকপক্ষ। রাজধানীর বিজয়নগরের শ্রম ভবনে মঙ্গলবার বিকেলে আরএমজি বিষয়ক ত্রিপক্ষীয় পরামর্শ পরিষদের (টিসিসি) সভায় এসব কথা বলেন শ্রম প্রতিমন্ত্রী বেগম মন্নুজান সুফিয়ান। এতে মালিক, শ্রমিক ও সরকারপক্ষের প্রতিনিধিরা উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

BB asks banks to take safeguards for export trade The central bank has issued a guideline note asking authorized dealer (AD) banks to take appropriate safeguards for export trade, officials concerned said. The AD banks have been reminded about the risk factors for cross-border transactions in terms of foreign exchange risk management guidelines, restrictions on establishment and conducting transactions with shell banks and preventive measures under trade-based money laundering guidelines, according to a notification issued by the Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Tuesday. "It will work as safeguards both for the AD banks and exporters," a senior BB official told the FE while explaining the main objective of the notification. The central bank also outlined instructions for export transactions under letters of credit (LCs) and sales contracts

বেনাপোল বন্দরের নিরাপত্তায় বসছে সিসিটিভি ক্যামেরা বড় বেনাপোল স্থলবন্দরে নিরাপত্তায় বসছে সিসিটিভি ক্যামেরা। ব্যবসায়ীদের দাবির মুখে বন্দরে আমদানি পণ্যের নিরাপত্তায় সিসিটিভি ক্যামেরা স্থাপন শুরু করেছে বন্দর কর্তৃপক্ষ। ১৫ কোটি টাকা ব্যয়ে পুরো বন্দর এলাকায় ৩৭৫টি সিসিটিভি ক্যামেরা বসানো হচ্ছে। বন্দর কর্তৃপক্ষ বলছে, সিসিটিভি ক্যামেরা যেমন বন্দরের নিশ্ছিদ্র নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করবে তেমনি পণ্য আমদানি থেকে শুরু করে খালাস পর্যন্ত সবই নজরদারিতে থাকবে। ব্যবসায়ীরা বলছেন, দীর্ঘদিন পরে হলেও সিসিটিভি ক্যামেরা স্থাপনে ব্যবসায়ীরা খুশি হলেও অনেকে বলছেন এর আগেও বন্দরের অনেক শেডে (গুদাম) সিসিটিভি ক্যামেরা ছিল। কয়েক দিন চলার পর সেগুলো অজ্ঞাত কারণে অকেজো করে রাখা হয়। ভবিষ্যতে কী হবে সেটাই দেখার বিষয়।

করোনায় গার্মেন্টসে সাফল্য বিজিএমইএ’র সহসভাপতি মো. শহীদুল্লাহ আজিম জনকণ্ঠকে বলেন, ‘রফতানি আদেশ বাড়ছে। মূলত চীন, ভারত ও মিয়ানমার থেকে সরে আসা কিছু অর্ডার আমরা পাচ্ছি। এর সঙ্গে গত কয়েক বছরে তৈরি পোশাক খাতের কর্মপরিবেশ উন্নয়নে আমরা যে ঈর্ষণীয় উন্নতি করেছি, তাতে বাংলাদেশের সঙ্গে ব্যবসা করার ক্ষেত্রে ক্রেতাদের আস্থা বাড়ছে। ফলে, ওয়াল্ট ডিজনির এর মতো প্রতিষ্ঠান আট বছর পর বাংলাদেশের সঙ্গে ব্যবসা করার জন্য আসার ঘোষণা দিয়েছে।’ অবশ্য রফতানি বাড়লেও এর সঙ্গে ক্রমাগত পোশাকের দাম কমে যাওয়া নিয়ে নিজেদের উদ্বেগের কথা জানান তিনি। বলেন, যে সব ক্রেতা নতুন করে বাংলাদেশের আসছে, ইজ অব ডুয়িং বিজনেস বা সহজে ব্যবসা করার সূচকে প্রত্যাশিত অগ্রগতি করতে না পারায় তাদের ধরে রাখা যাবে কিনা, তা নিয়ে শঙ্কা রয়েছে।

Govt plans compliance platforms like Accord, Alliance: Salman The government is planning to form inspection and remediation platforms like Accord and Alliance to strengthen workplace safety in industrial units which produce goods for the domestic markets, said Salman F Rahman, adviser to the prime minister on private industries and investment. "We will involve the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) in the formation of the inspection and remediation platforms," said Rahman. He was addressing a webinar on "reviving the leather sector in the aftermath of Covid 19", jointly organised by Economic Reporters Forum (ERF), The Asia Foundation (TAF) and RAPID.

প্রণোদনার টাকা পাবে বিদেশি মালিকানাধীন প্রতিষ্ঠানও বাংলাদেশে অবস্থিত শতভাগ বিদেশি মালিকানাধীন প্রতিষ্ঠান এখন থেকে সরকার ঘোষিত প্রণোদনার ঋণ পাবে। একই সঙ্গে দেশি-বিদেশি যৌথ মালিকানাধীন প্রতিষ্ঠানও সরকারের প্রণোদনা পাবে। সোমবার বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক এ–সংক্রান্ত একটি সার্কুলার জারি করেছে। বিদেশি মালিকানাধীন প্রতিষ্ঠানকে প্রণোদনার আওতায় আনার কারণ সম্পর্কে জানা যায়, গত বছর ১ অক্টোবর বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক একটি সার্কুলার জারি করেছিল। সেখানে সরকারের প্রণোদনার প্যাকেজের আওতায় বেজা, বেপজা ও হাইটেক পার্কে অবস্থিত বিদেশি শিল্পপ্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোকে ঋণ দেওয়ার কথা বলা হয়েছিল। কিন্তু ওই সার্কুলারে বেজা, বেপজা ও হাইটেক পার্কের বাইরে অবস্থিত বিদেশি শিল্পপ্রতিষ্ঠানকে এই সুবিধার আওতায় রাখা হয়নি। ফলে দেশের মধ্যে সমজাতীয় শিল্পপ্রতিষ্ঠানের মধ্যে অসমতা তৈরি হয়েছিল। সমতা নিশ্চিত করার লক্ষ্যে এমন সিদ্ধান্ত নিল সরকার।

Banking hours extended till 4pm ahead of Eid Bangladesh Bank has extended the transaction hours in banks till 4pm from Thursday to help clients complete their banking activities smoothly ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. People will now be able to enjoy banking services from 10am to 4pm from 15, 18 and 19 July following health guidelines strictly, according to the circular issued by the central bank on Tuesday. The banks can be kept open till 6 pm for other post-transaction activities.
