CCH assures RMG exporters of all supports Commissioner of Chattogram Customs House Fakhrul Alam said the contribution of the garment industry to national exports and employment is undeniable. In order to expedite the unloading and export of imported goods in the garment industry, importance should be given to the presentation of documents in accordance with the customs regulations. Custom House Chittagong will extend all possible cooperation to the export industry in order to continue the growth of exports through mutual discussion and cooperation. The commissioner made the assurance while exchanging views with a delegation led by BGMEA First Vice-President Syed Nazrul Islam recently to resolve the existing complexities in the import-export activities of the readymade garment industry.

Keeping that in mind, we need to start thinking about how costs can be passed back down to the consumers. If people want clothing which has been produced in a safe environment, where workers are treated properly, where production adheres to high environmental standards and so on, that is fine. But they can't demand all of that and still expect to pay cheap prices.

BGMEA pledges to leave stones unturned for the prosperity of apparel industry BGMEA President Faruque Hassan on Saturday stressed that the members of the association are determined to go any length for the prosperity of the country's apparel industry.The 38th annual general meeting (AGM) of BGMEA was held at the capital's BGMEA Complex in Uttara. BGMEA Vice President Shahidullah Azim, Vice President (Finance) Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, Vice President Md. Nasir Uddin, Vice President Rakibul Alam Chowdhury, BGMEA directors and general members of the association also attended the AGM.

Bangladesh steps up yarn, fabrics export Bangladesh has already conquered the international apparel market and is currently the second-largest exporter of garment items worldwide after China with a 6.8 per cent global market share. Although Bangladesh depends on imports for cotton, a key raw material for textile, the country is fast becoming a major source for yarn and fabrics for textile and garment producers. Yarn, fabrics and waste yarn worth $80.48 million were exported from Bangladesh in the July to November period, registering a 38.73 per cent year-on-year growth, according to data from the Export Promotion Bureau.

ডিজিটাল বাংলাদেশ পুরস্কার পেল বিজিএমইএ ডিজিটাল বাংলাদেশ পুরস্কার পেল বিজিএমইএ। ওয়ার্কার্স ডাটাবেইজ তৈরির জন্য এই পুরস্কার পেয়েছে পোশাক প্রস্তুতকারক ও রপ্তানিকারদের এই সংগঠন। রোববার রাজধানীর বঙ্গবন্ধু আন্তর্জাতিক সম্মেলন কেন্দ্রে ডিজিটাল বাংলাদেশ দিবস উপলক্ষ্যে তথ্য ও যোগাযোগ প্রযুক্তি বিভাগ আয়োজিত অনুষ্ঠানে এ পুরস্কার দেওয়া হয়।প্রধানমন্ত্রীর পক্ষ থেকে তথ্য ও যোগাযোগ প্রতিমন্ত্রী জুনাইদ আহমেদ পলক বিজিএমইএ সভাপতি ফারুক হাসানের হাতে এ পুরস্কার তুলে দেন। অনুষ্ঠানে ভিডিও কনফারেন্সের মাধ্যমে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে যুক্ত ছিলেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা। এতে বিশেষ অতিথি ছিলেন প্রধানমন্ত্রীর মুখ্য সচিব ড. আহমদ কায়কাউস।

বিডার ওএসএস পোর্টালে যুক্ত হলো নতুন পাঁচটি সেবা বিনিয়োগকারীদের সুবিধার্থে বাংলাদেশ বিনিয়োগ উন্নয়ন কর্তৃপক্ষের (বিডা) অনলাইন ওয়ান স্টপ সার্ভিস (্ওএসএস) পোর্টালে যুক্ত হলো আরো পাঁচটি সেবা। এ নিয়ে প্রতিদিন সার্বক্ষণিক ভিত্তিতে ১৮টি প্রতিষ্ঠানের ৫৬টি সেবা অনলাইনে পাওয়া যাচ্ছে। গতকাল রাজধানীর আগারগাঁওয়ে বিডা সম্মেলন কক্ষে এসব সেবার উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে সভাপতিত্ব করেন প্রতিষ্ঠানটির নির্বাহী চেয়ারম্যান মো. সিরাজুল ইসলাম।
