যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে বাংলাদেশি পণ্যের অধিকতর শুল্কমুক্ত প্রবেশাধিকারের আহ্বান যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ওয়াশিংটন ডিসিতে যুক্তরাষ্ট্র-বাংলাদেশ ট্রেড অ্যান্ড ইনভেস্টমেন্ট কো-অপারেশন ফোরাম এগ্রিমেন্টের (টিকফা) ৬ষ্ঠ সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। এ সভায় যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে বাংলাদেশি পণ্যের অধিকতর শুল্কমুক্ত প্রবেশাধিকারের আহ্বান জানানো হয়। বাণিজ্য মন্ত্রণালয়ের সিনিয়র সচিব তপন কান্তি ঘোষ এবং যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের দক্ষিণ ও মধ্য এশিয়া বিষয়ক অ্যাসিস্ট্যান্ট ট্রেড রিপ্রেজেনটেটিভ ক্রিস্টোফার উইলসন গৎ বাংলাদেশ ও যুক্তরাষ্ট্র প্রতিনিধিদলের নেতৃত্ব দেন। বাংলাদেশ প্রতিনিধি দল যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের বাজারে তৈরি পোশাকের অগ্রাধিকারমূলক প্রবেশাধিকারের ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন। বাণিজ্য সচিব জানান, অন্যান্য দেশের তুলনায় বাংলাদেশ এখন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে পোশাক রপ্তানিতে সর্বোচ্চ শুল্ক প্রদান করে, যা যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের বাজারে বাংলাদেশি পণ্যের প্রতিযোগিতা সক্ষমতা ব্যাপকভাবে হ্রাস করছে।

শিল্পখাতের জন্য ৫ হাজার কোটি টাকার তহবিল শিল্প খাতের টেকসই প্রবৃদ্ধি তরান্বিত করতে পাঁচ হাজার কোটি টাকার তহবিল গঠন করেছে বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক। এই তহবিল থেকে রপ্তানি ও উৎপাদনমুখী কোম্পানিকে পাঁচ শতাংশ সুদে ঋণ দেয়া হবে। ঋণের মেয়াদকাল হবে পাঁচ থেকে ১০ বছর। গতকাল বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক থেকে এ সংক্রান্ত সার্কুলার জারি করা হয়েছে। এতে বলা হয়, আর্দ্রকরণে পানি ব্যবহারের দক্ষতা বৃদ্ধি, পানি সংরক্ষণ ও ব্যবস্থাপনা, বর্জ্য ব্যবস্থাপনা, সম্পদ ব্যবহারের দক্ষতা ও পুনর্ব্যবহার, নবায়নযোগ্য শক্তি, শক্তি দক্ষতা, তাপ ও তাপমাত্রার ব্যবস্থাপনা, বায়ু চলাচল ও প্রবাহ দক্ষতা, কর্ম পরিবেশ উন্নয়ন উদ্যোগ এবং সময়মতো বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংক কর্তৃক নির্দেশিত অন্যান্য ক্ষেত্রে রপ্তানি এবং উৎপাদনশীল শিল্প খাতে সবুজ পরিবশেবান্ধব মূলধনী যন্ত্রাদি ও যন্ত্রাংশ আমদানি বা কেনা সহজ করতে এই ঋণ দেওয়া হবে।

Bangladesh exports struggling to grow in US market Bangladesh’s export sector has struggled to achieve significant growth in the US market, the largest export destination for the country, in the first four months of FY2022-23, where exporters had achieved 49.38 per cent growth in FY2021-22. Commenting on the issue, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan told The Business Post, “The ongoing Russia-Ukraine war has left the global economy struggling and that has greatly impacted the US economy also.” “Due to this, the inflation rate there has risen and cut the consumers’ purchase capacity. The brands had sourced a good number of clothes last year and are yet to sell a major portion of the goods,” he said. “We hope they will able to sell the clothes during the Christmas holidays and come back to us with a large number of orders,” he added.

ফ্যাশন ব্র্যান্ডগুলোকে যথাযথ কৌশল গ্রহণের আহ্বান বিজিএমইএর পোশাক শিল্পে টেকসই প্রবৃদ্ধির লক্ষ্যে বৈশ্বিক ফ্যাশন ব্র্যান্ডগুলোকে যথাযথ কৌশল গ্রহণের আহ্বান জানিয়েছে বাংলাদেশ পোশাক প্রস্তুতকারক ও রফতানিকারক সমিতি (বিজিএমইএ)। গতকাল ঢাকার একটি হোটেলে অনুষ্ঠিত পোশাক শিল্প খাতে নবায়নযোগ্য শক্তিতে সুইডেন-বাংলাদেশ অংশীদারত্ব শীর্ষক নীতি সংলাপে এ আহ্বান জানানো হয়।এ সময় বিজিএমইএ সভাপতি ফারুক হাসান বলেন, বৈশ্বিক ফ্যাশন ব্র্যান্ড ও ক্রেতাদের এমন কৌশল গ্রহণ করা প্রয়োজন, যা নেট জিরো লক্ষ্য অর্জনে অগ্রগতির পাশাপাশি উভয় পক্ষের প্রবৃদ্ধি বাড়াবে। ব্র্যান্ডগুলোকে এমন অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক কৌশল গ্রহণ করতে হবে, যাতে করে বাংলাদেশের সমগ্র পোশাক শিল্পের টেকসই প্রবৃদ্ধি নিশ্চিত করার জন্য এ খাতের ক্ষুদ্র ও মাঝারি কারখানাগুলোকেও মূল স্রোতে শামিল করা যায়।

The Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) has set a plan to help the textile and garment industry turn more environment friendly by 2030, by reducing energy consumption 15 percent and water consumption by a fifth.According to Truong Van Cam, general secretary of VITAS, Apart from contributing to implementing the national strategy on green growth, a greener textile and garment industry fulfils the requirements of large textile and garment import markets in the world like the European Union (EU).

Home tex exports drop in Jul-Nov Home textile exports declined in the first five months of the current fiscal year (FY), 2022-23, mainly due to a fall-off in orders from global buyers. Exports dropped after continuous growth of over 40 per cent during the last two fiscal years overwhelmed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Exporters attributed this to a huge inventory of buyers following a large volume of sourcing during Covid and post-Covid periods.
