রপ্তানি লক্ষ্যমাত্রায় পিছিয়ে তৈরি পোশাক খাত বৈশি^ক পরিস্থিতিতে তৈরি হওয়া অর্থনৈতিক মন্দার জের এখনো কাটিয়ে উঠতে পারেননি দেশের তৈরি পোশাক শিল্পের উদ্যোক্তারা। নানা সংকটে দেশের রপ্তানি আয়ের প্রধান এই খাতটি লক্ষ্যমাত্রার তুলনায় অনেক পিছিয়ে পড়েছে। একই সঙ্গে প্রবৃদ্ধিও কমেছে। উদ্যোক্তারা বলছেন, যুদ্ধের কারণে ক্রেতারা অর্ডার দিতে ভয় পাচ্ছেন। আবার পণ্যের দর কষাকষি করতে গেলে ক্রেতারা চলে যাচ্ছেন অন্য দেশে। ফলে বাংলাদেশের রপ্তানির বড় বাজার ইউরোপ ও আমেরিকায় রপ্তানি কমেছে উল্লেখযোগ্য পরিমাণে। তৈরি পোশাক শিল্প একটি সমস্যা কাটিয়ে উঠতে না উঠতে আরেকটি সমস্যার মধ্যে পড়ছে বলে মনে করেন তৈরি পোশাক শিল্প মালিকদের সংগঠন বিজিএমইএর সহ-সভাপতি খন্দকার রফিকুল ইসলাম। তিনি আমাদের সময়কে বলেন, বিশ^বাজারে কাঁচামালের দাম বাড়ায় পণ্য উৎপাদন খরচ বেড়েছে। কিন্তু ক্রেতারা পণ্যের দাম বাড়াচ্ছে না। বেশি দরকষাকষি করলে তারা পাশের দেশে চলে যাচ্ছে। অনেক কারখানা মালিক লোকসানের ঘানি কমাতে কম দামে অর্ডার নিয়ে কাজ করছেন। এই সমস্যা থেকে উত্তরণের জন্য ক্রেতাদের বড় সহযোগিতা প্রয়োজন বলে মনে করেন তিনি। বিজিএমইএর পরিচালক মহিউদ্দিন রুবেল। বলেন, তৈরি পোশাক খাতে ব্যাপক বিনিয়োগ হয়েছে। অবকাঠামোর অনেক উন্নতি হয়েছে। চলমান বৈশি^ক অস্থিতিশীলতা কাটলে ব্যাপক অর্ডার পাওয়া যাবে এবং কাজও করা যাবে। চলমান সংকট না কাটলে রপ্তানি আরও কমার আশঙ্কা রয়েছে।

Exports dip 0.99% in Apr YoY as RMG falters Bangladesh witnessed a 0.99 per cent year-on-year negative export growth this April, a phenomenon recorded in three single months this fiscal so far, amid a persistent shortage of forex reserves. According to Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) monthly provisional data published on Thursday, the country earned $3.92 billion from merchandise exports in April this year, which is 0.99 per cent lower compared to the same month last year. Speaking to The Business Post, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) former president Faruque Hassan said, “In the month of Eid, production in factories usually goes down as workers enjoy long holidays. “But the overall export order volume of RMG products is not bad, and I think the earnings will turn around this May.”BGMEA Senior Vice President Khandoker Rafiqul Islam said, “We are currently receiving good orders, but rates are still tight. Hopefully, the overall year-on-year export growth this FY will remain positive.”

April exports dip below $4b, hitting six-month low, remittance rises to $2.04b Latest data reveals a contrasting trend in the external front. Remittance recouped previous month's decline in April. But monthly exports slid far below $5 billion and clocked the lowest in six months, smashing the hope for some respite in external balance expected from Eid-boosted remittance recovery. Shovon Islam, managing director of Sparrow Group, said exports in May may see at least 2% to 3% higher than the same period last year. "The apparel exports fell to about $1 billion in April compared to March this year. While some orders are coming in, manufacturers are facing challenges in meeting their lead times due to the lack of uninterrupted electricity supply," said Shovon, who is also a director of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).

Export falls to a six-month low Bangladesh's exports dipped in April, the first decline in four months, because of slowing shipments of garments and some other major products, dealing a blow to an economy looking to recover from the lingering crisis. The country shipped products worth $3.91 billion last month, down 0.99 percent from $3.95 billion a year ago, according to data released yesterday by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB). Shams Mahmud, managing director of Shasha Denims Ltd, a major garment exporter, blamed the chronic gas shortage for the lower exports. "We are not getting an adequate supply of gas. Therefore, we are accepting reduced orders in order to maintain the lead time for shipment."Owing to lower generation of gas locally, industries have long complained of inadequate energy supply. The supply situation has not improved owing to the government's limited capacity because of the fast-depletion of foreign currency reserves.

টানা তিন মাস বাড়ার পর কমলো রপ্তানি গত মার্চ পর্যন্ত টানা চার মাস পণ্য রপ্তানি থেকে আয়ের পরিমাণ ছিল ৫০০ কোটি ডলারের বেশি। এর মধ্যে জানুয়ারিতে রপ্তানির পরিমাণ ছিল ৫৭২ কোটি টাকা। কিন্তু এপ্রিলে এসে কমলো রপ্তানি। মাসটিতে রপ্তানি হয়েছে ৩৯২ কোটি ডলারেরও কম, যা আগের মাস মার্চে ছিল ৫১০ কোটি ডলার। অর্থাৎ এক মাসের ব্যবধানে রপ্তানি কমেছে ১১৮ কোটি ডলার। মার্চের রপ্তানি ছিল গত বছরের একই মাসের চেয়ে ৪ কোটি ডলার কম। ওই মাসে রপ্তানির পরিমাণ ৩৯৬ কোটি ডলার। হঠাৎ রপ্তানি আয় এত কমে যাওয়ার কারণ মূলত ঈদের ছুটি। গত ১১ এপ্রিল পবিত্র ঈদুল ফিতর উদযাপিত হয়। ঈদ উপলক্ষে গড়ে এক সপ্তাহের বেশি কারখানা বন্ধ ছিল। যার প্রভাব পড়েছে উৎপাদন ও রপ্তানিতে।

দশ মাসে পোশাক রফতানিতে আয় ৪০ বিলিয়ন ডলার চলতি ২০২৩-২৪ অর্থবছরের ১০ মাসে (জুলাই-এপ্রিল) তৈরি পোশাক রফতানিতে আয় হয়েছে ৪০ দশিমক ৪৯ বিলিয়ন ডলার। গত ২০২২-২৩ অর্থবছরের ১০ মাসে পোশাক রফতানি হয়েছিল ৩৮ দশমিক ৫৮ বিলিয়ন ডলারের। অর্থাৎ গত বছরের জুলাই-এপ্রিল সময়ের চেয়ে এবার পোশাক রফতানিতে প্রবৃদ্ধি হয়েছে ৪ দশমিক ৯৭ শতাংশ। রফতানি উন্নয়ন ব্যুরো সূত্রে এসব তথ্য জানা গেছে। এদিকে চলতি অর্থবছরের শুধু এপ্রিল মাসে পোশাক রফতানিতে আয় হয়েছে ৩ দশমিক ২৯ বিলিয়ন ডলার। গত বছরের এপ্রিল পোশাক রফতানিতে আয় হয়েছিল ৩ দশমিক ৩৩ বিলিয়ন ডলার। অর্থাৎ গত বছরের এপ্রিল মাসের চেয়ে এ বছরের এপ্রিলে পোশাক রফতানি কমেছে ১ দশমিক ০১ শতাংশ।
