রাষ্ট্রদূত ও বিজিএমইএ নেতাদের বৈঠক : বাংলাদেশ-সুইডেনের ঘনিষ্ঠ অর্থনৈতিক সম্পর্ক গড়ে তোলার অঙ্গীকার বাংলাদেশ ও সুইডেনের মধ্যে ঘনিষ্ঠ অর্থনৈতিক সম্পর্ক গড়ে তোলা এবং একসঙ্গে কাজ করার সুযোগ ও উপায়গুলো খুঁজে বের করার বিষয়ে অঙ্গীকার ব্যক্ত করেছে বাংলাদেশ পোশাক প্রস্তুতকারক ও রপ্তানিকারক সমিতি (বিজিএমইএ) ও সুইডেন। সোমবার (৬ মে) বিজিএমইএ’র সভাপতি এস এম মান্নান (কচি) সঙ্গে সৌজন্য সাক্ষাৎ করেন বাংলাদেশে নিযুক্ত সুইডেনের রাষ্ট্রদূত আলেকজান্দ্রা বার্গ ফন লিন্ডে। সাক্ষাতে এ বিষয়ে অঙ্গীকার ব্যক্ত করে উভয়পক্ষ। মঙ্গলবার (৭ মে) এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে এসব তথ্য জানানো হয়েছে। বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে বলা হয়েছে, সাক্ষাতে সুইডেনের রাষ্ট্রদূতের সঙ্গে ছিলেন সুইডেন দূতাবাসের হেড অব পলিটিক্যাল, ট্রেড অ্যান্ড কমিউনিকেশন, লোভিসা হফম্যান। এ সময় বিজিএমইএর সিনিয়র সহ-সভাপতি খন্দকার রফিকুল ইসলাম, সহ-সভাপতি মিরান আলী, সহ-সভাপতি আবদুল্লাহ হিল রাকিব, পরিচালক আসিফ আশরাফ, পরিচালক মো. ইমরানুর রহমান, পরিচালক মো. আশিকুর রহমান (তুহিন), পরিচালক শোভন ইসলাম, পরিচালক শামস মাহমুদ, পরিচালক মো. জাকির হোসেন ও পরিচালক মো. রেজাউল আলম (মিরু) উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

16th Bangladesh Denim expo ends showcasing industrial prowess Bangladesh Denim Expo organized by Bangladesh Apparel Exchange concludes at ICCB, Dhaka, Bangladesh on Tuesday, where an over 60 exhibitors from 11 countries are showcased their latest denim products, fabrics, accessories, chemicals, technologies etc. At the closing ceremony on Tuesday, Chief Guest Textiles and Jute Minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak said that "As a safe and compliant sourcing hub, I request the buyers to choose Bangladesh and pay a fair price. The apparel industry is a crucial force for Bangladeshs progress economically. "Siddiqur Rahman, former President of BGMEA said: "The infrastructural improvement that we see now is clearly spectacular. And Im proud to say that much of it is contributed by the garments sector. I am confident that with the support of the government, the RMG industry can flourish even further." S.M. Mannan (Kochi), President of BGMEA discussed that "We are now incorporating automation and becoming ready to acquire greater market share globally. We are making constant efforts in business sustainability, and we are optimistic that we can add even greater value in the coming years." Abdullah Hil Rakib, Vice President, BGMEA & Managing Director, Team Group Said that, "Bangladesh Denim Expo has always been understanding of the product and materials and needs of the industry.

আইসিসিবিতে পর্দা নামল ডেনিম এক্সপোর রাজধানীর ইন্টারন্যাশনাল কনভেনশন সিটি বসুন্ধরা (আইসিসিবি)-তে পর্দা নামল দুই দিনব্যাপী ডেনিম শিল্পের অন্যতম বৃহৎ আন্তর্জাতিক প্রদর্শনী ‘বাংলাদেশ ডেনিম এক্সপো’র ১৬তম আসরের। এবারের মেলায় ১১ দেশের ৬০টির বেশি প্রতিষ্ঠান অংশগ্রহণ করে। গতকাল সমাপনী অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্য দেন বস্ত্র ও পাট মন্ত্রী জাহাঙ্গীর কবির নানক। বিশেষ অতিথির বক্তব্য দেন বাংলাদেশে নিযুক্ত নেদারল্যান্ডসের রাষ্ট্রদূত মিজ ইরমা ভন দুরিন, বিজিএমইএ’র সাবেক সভাপতি মো. সিদ্দিকুর রহমান, বর্তমান সভাপতি এস এম মান্নান (কচি), এইচঅ্যান্ডএমের বাংলাদেশ, পাকিস্তান ও ইথিওপিয়ার আঞ্চলিক প্রধান জিয়াউর রহমান এবং বাংলাদেশ অ্যাপারেল এক্সচেঞ্জের ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক মো. মহিউদ্দিন রুবেল।বিজিএমইএ’র সাবেক সভাপতি সিদ্দিকুর রহমান বলেন, আমরা পোর্টে অহেতুক হয়রানি থেকে মুক্তি চাই। আমরা যদি মুক্তি পাই তাহলে এ ইন্ডাস্ট্রিকে অনেক দূর এগিয়ে নিতে পারব। বিজিএমইএ সভাপতি এস এম মান্নান (কচি) বলেন, দেশে রপ্তানিমুখী ডেনিম পোশাক কারখানাগুলো প্রায় ৬০ থেকে ৭০ শতাংশ ফেব্রিক জোগান দিতে পারে।

Bangladesh garment leaders seek more investment from China, want to narrow trade gap The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has underscored the importance of increased investment from China and bolstered exports to the Chinese market in narrowing the trade gap between the two countries. Highlighting the vast trade potential between Bangladesh and China, BGMEA President SM Mannan Kochi stressed the need for bilateral collaboration to realise these opportunities. His remarks came during a courtesy call by a delegation from the Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI) at the BGMEA Complex in Dhaka on Monday (6 May). The BCCCI delegation included Advisor Md Khorshed Alam, General Secretary Al Mamun Mridha, Vice President Md Shahid Alam, and Directors Meherun Nessa Islam and Syed Aminul Kabir. The meeting was also attended by BGMEA Senior Vice President Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, vice president Abdullah Hil Rakib, Directors Md Nurul Islam, Md Zakir Hossain and former vice president of BGMEA Mohsin Uddin Ahmed Niru.

Denim exports in blues as inflation forces buyers to tighten belt Anwar-ul-Alam Chowdhury Parvez, managing director of Argon Denims Ltd, said consumers are focusing on meeting basic needs due to the economic climate, with fashion taking a back seat.The two-day Bangladesh Denim Expo, held at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in Dhaka, features over 60 exhibitors from 11 countries showcasing their latest innovations. Organised by the Bangladesh Apparel Exchange, the event began on Monday. Manufacturers are displaying a wide range of products, from sustainable fabrics to cutting-edge designs, highlighting the diversity of the denim industry.Shovon Islam, managing director of Sparrow Apparels Ltd, a company exporting value-added denim, told the Financial Express that Bangladesh controls 9-10 per cent of the global denim market, worth $85 billion, with annual exports of $8 billion.Shams Mahmud, managing director of Shasha Garments Ltd, said, "Inflation and historically high interest rates set by the Federal Reserve are still impacting the US market."
