Bangladesh, Pakistan RMG exporters keen to boost trade The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen bilateral trade between the two countries.Anwar Hossain, administrator of the BGMEA, and Aamir Reyaz Chottani, vice-chairman of the PRGMEA, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations during the inauguration of the Pakistan-Bangladesh Business Forum in Dhaka.

পাকিস্তানের সঙ্গে বাণিজ্য বাড়াতে ব্যবসায়ীদের প্রতি আহ্বান বাণিজ্য উপদেষ্টার জনবহুল দেশ হওয়া সত্ত্বেও বাংলাদেশ ও পাকিস্তানের মধ্যে প্রত্যাশিত মাত্রায় বাণিজ্য হচ্ছে না। কাঙ্ক্ষিত বাণিজ্য লক্ষ্য অর্জনে উভয় দেশের ব্যবসায়ীদের এগিয়ে আসতে হবে। সোমবার ঢাকার একটি হোটেলে ‘পাকিস্তান-বাংলাদেশ বিজনেস ফোরাম’–এর উদ্বোধনী অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে বাণিজ্য উপদেষ্টা শেখ বশিরউদ্দীন এ কথা বলেন। বাংলাদেশে নিযুক্ত পাকিস্তানের হাইকমিশনার সৈয়দ আহমেদ মারুফ, বাংলাদেশ শিল্প ও বণিক সমিতি ফেডারেশনের (এফবিসিসিআই) প্রশাসক মো. হাফিজুর রহমান, বাংলাদেশ নিট পোশাক উৎপাদক ও রপ্তানিকারক সমিতির (বিকেএমইএ) সভাপতি মোহাম্মদ হাতেম উপস্থিত ছিলেন।দ্বিপক্ষীয় বাণিজ্য জোরদার করতে বাংলাদেশ তৈরি পোশাক উৎপাদক ও রপ্তানিকারক সমিতির (বিজিএমইএ) সঙ্গে পাকিস্তান তৈরি পোশাক উৎপাদক ও রপ্তানিকারক সমিতির (পিআরজিএমইএ) সমঝোতা স্মারক (এমওইউ) স্বাক্ষরিত হয়। এতে স্বাক্ষর করেন বিজিএমইএর প্রশাসক মো. আনোয়ার হোসেন ও পিআরজিএমইএর ভাইস চেয়ারম্যান আমির রিয়াজ ছোট্টানি।

A surge in exports to two major markets: Bangladesh fills the gap left by China In the months of January and February this year, Bangladesh’s apparel exports to the European Union (EU) market rose by 36.99% compared to the same period last year, reaching $3.69 billion. Last year, this amount was only $2.69 billion. During this time, the EU’s overall apparel imports increased by 17.81% in value and 28.66% in volume. These figures have been reported by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), citing Eurostat.According to BGMEA, Bangladesh’s export growth is significantly higher than the overall import growth - clearly highlighting Bangladesh’s ability to capture the market. Experts mention that Bangladesh has successfully occupied the gap created by China's declining market share.

কাঙ্ক্ষিত বাণিজ্য লক্ষ্য অর্জনে ব্যবসায়ীদের এগিয়ে আসতে হবে দ্বিপাক্ষিক বাণিজ্য সম্পর্ক শক্তিশালী ও অর্থনৈতিক সহযোগিতা বৃদ্ধিতে পাকিস্তান-বাংলাদেশ বিজনেস ফোরাম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখবে বলে জানিয়েছেন বাণিজ্য উপদেষ্টা শেখ বশিরউদ্দীন। সোমবার (২৮ এপ্রিল) ঢাকায় হোটেল ইন্টার কন্টিনেন্টালে পাকিস্তান-বাংলাদেশ বিজনেস ফোরামের উদ্বোধন অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথির বক্তৃতায় এ কথা বলেন তিনি।পরে দ্বিপাক্ষিক বাণিজ্য জোরদার করতে বাংলাদেশ গার্মেন্টস ম্যানুফ্যাকচারার্স অ্যান্ড এক্সপোর্টার্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের (বিজিএমইএ) সঙ্গে পাকিস্তান রেডিমেড গার্মেন্টস ম্যানুফ্যাকচারার্স অ্যান্ড এক্সপোর্টার্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশন (পিআরজিএমইএ) সমঝোতা স্মারক সই হয়। বিজিএমইএ এর পক্ষে এর প্রশাসক ও বাংলাদেশ এক্সপোর্ট প্রমোশন ব্যুরোর ভাইস চেয়ারম্যান আনোয়ার হোসেন ও পিআরজিএমইএ ভাইস চেয়ারম্যান আমির রিয়াজ ছোট্টানি সমঝোতা স্মারকে সই করেন।

শ্রমক্ষেত্রে সমন্বয়ের ঘাটতি রয়েছে শ্রমক্ষেত্রে সমন্বয়ের ঘাটতি আছে বলে জানিয়েছেন বক্তারা। তারা বলেন, পেশাগত নিরাপত্তা ও সুরক্ষা নিশ্চিতে সংশ্লিষ্ট সংস্থাগুলোর মধ্যে সমন্বয় ও তাদের তদারকি কার্যক্রম আরও বাড়ানো প্রয়োজন। এ ছাড়া পরিবহনসহ যেসব খাতে সবচেয়ে বেশি দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে, সেগুলোকে অগ্রাধিকার দিয়ে কাজ করতে হবে। সোমবার (২৮ এপ্রিল) রাজধানীর একটি হোটেলে পেশাগত স্বাস্থ্য ও সুরক্ষা নিয়ে আয়োজিত ‘ওএসএইচ সম্মেলন ২০২৫’-এ বক্তারা এসব কথা বলেন।

BD-Pak trade falls short of potential: Experts The bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Pakistan remains much lower than its potential, speakers have observed. Further cooperation and exploring business opportunities between the two nations could help boost the two-way trade, they suggested. The observation came from the inaugural session of a daylong 'Pakistan-Bangladesh Business Forum' held at a hotel in Dhaka on Monday.Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin and Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Syed Ahmed Maroof spoke on the occasion. BGMEA and Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PRGMEA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). Export Promotion Bureau Vice-Chairman and BGMEA Administrator Md Anwar Hossain and PRGMEA Vice-Chairman Amir Reaz Chhottani signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides. BKMEA President Mohammad Hatem was also present on the occasion.

শ্রমিকের অধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠিত না হলে রাষ্ট্র ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয় রাষ্ট্র শ্রমিককে মর্যাদার দৃষ্টিতে না দেখলে তাদের কোনো অধিকারই প্রতিষ্ঠিত হবে না। শোভন কাজ, নিরাপদ কর্মপরিবেশ কিংবা পেশাগত স্বাস্থ্য নিরাপত্তা– এসব অধিকার আইন এবং নীতিমালার মধ্যেই সীমাবদ্ধ থেকে যাবে। অথচ শ্রমিকের নিরাপত্তা তাঁর অধিকার, এটা দরকষাকষির বিষয় নয়। শ্রমিকের অধিকার প্রতিষ্ঠিত না হলে উৎপাদন কমে, রপ্তানি কমে। পরিণামে রাষ্ট্র ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়। পেশাগত স্বাস্থ্য ও সুরক্ষা সম্মেলনে গতকাল সোমবার এমন পর্যবেক্ষণ তুলে ধরেন বক্তারা। আন্তর্জাতিক শ্রম সংস্থার (আইএলও) সহযোগিতায় শ্রম ও কর্মসংস্থান মন্ত্রণালয়ের কলকারখানা ও প্রতিষ্ঠান পরিদর্শন অধিদপ্তর (ডিআইএফই) এ আয়োজন করে। রাজধানীর হোটেল সোনারগাঁওয়ে আয়োজিত অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি ছিলেন শ্রম উপদেষ্টা ড. এম সাখাওয়াত হোসেন। বিশেষ অতিথি ছিলেন শ্রম ও কর্মসংস্থান মন্ত্রণালয়ের সচিব এএইচএম সফিকুজ্জামান ও আইএলওর কান্ট্রি ডিরেক্টর টুমো পোটিয়াইনেন।
