April exports lowest in 10 months Bangladesh recorded the lowest level of exports so far this fiscal year, both in terms of value and growth, in April as the production of apparel, the main export item, suffered in many areas amid an energy crisis. Last month, exporters fetched $3.01 billion, registering only 0.86 percent year-on-year growth, data released by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) yesterday showed. BGMEA Administrator Md Anwar Hossain said there was trade uncertainty in April. "This could be a contributing factor," he said, adding that the gas crisis in the past two weeks was another factor. "Hopefully, the gas problem will be resolved soon. Shipments will pick up in May," he said.

করপোরেট করহার নিয়ে ব্যবসায়ীদের উদ্বেগ করপোরেট করহার নিয়ে ব্যবসায়ীদের মধ্যে উদ্বেগ দেখা দিয়েছে। ব্যবসায়ীদের বেশির ভাগ সংগঠন করপোরেট করহার কমানোর জন্য জাতীয় রাজস্ব বোর্ডকে (এনবিআর) জানিয়েছে। তাদের দাবি করপোরেট করহার কমলে ব্যবসাবাণিজ্য আরও সহজ হবে এবং দেশে বিনিয়োগ বাড়বে। দেশিবিদেশি বিনিয়োগ বাড়াতে সহনশীল করপোরেট করের হার নির্ধারণ জরুরি। পোশাক খাতের উদ্যোক্তারা জানান, পোশাক খাতে করপোরেট কর বাড়লে দেশের পোশাক খাতে উৎপাদন খরচ বাড়বে। এতে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হবেন পোশাক খাতের উদ্যোক্তারা। রপ্তানি আয়েও নেতিবাচক প্রভাব পড়তে পারে।

Bangladesh's exports see 9.83pc growth in July-April Talking to New Age, Faruque Hassan, former Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association president, said that apparel exports witnessed a slow growth in April. ‘However, due to the US tariff fear, there was sluggishness in the orders. So, export may witness a negative growth in the coming months. The all-major suppliers will face the same problems,’ he added. He said that the government should work on new US tariff through negotiations and diplomatic channels. He also urged the government to provide sufficient policy supports, uninterrupted gas and electricity to navigate the emerged challenges.

রপ্তানিতে ১০ মাসের মধ্যে সবচেয়ে কম প্রবৃদ্ধি নানা চ্যালেঞ্জ ও সংকটের মধ্যেও পোশাক খাতের নেতৃত্বে ভালো প্রবৃদ্ধিতে রয়েছে দেশের রপ্তানি আয়। কিন্তু ব্যতিক্রম ঘটল গত এপ্রিল মাসে। ঈদের দীর্ঘ ছুটিতে কারখানা বন্ধ থাকা ও শিল্পের গ্যাসসংকটের ফলে গত ১০ মাসের মধ্যে রপ্তানি আয় সবচেয়ে কম হয়েছে বলে জানান সংশ্লিষ্টরা। রপ্তানি উন্নয়ন ব্যুরোর (ইপিবি) প্রকাশিত পরিসংখ্যানে দেখা গেছে, চলতি অর্থবছরের একক মাস হিসেবে গত এপ্রিল মাসে রপ্তানি আয়ে প্রবৃদ্ধি হয়েছে প্রায় ১ শতাংশের কম বা ০.৮৬ শতাংশ। একক মাস হিসেবে এপ্রিলে আয় হয়েছে ৩০১ কোটি ৬৮ লাখ ডলার। আগের অর্থবছরের একই সময়ে আয় ছিল ২৯৯ কোটি ১০ লাখ ডলার। গতকাল সোমবার ইপিবি এই পরিসংখ্যান প্রকাশ করেছে। তবে জুলাই-এপ্রিল ১০ মাসের হিসাবে গত অর্থবছরের (২০২৩-২৪) একই সময়ের চেয়ে আয় বেশি হয়েছে ৩৬০ কোটি ডলার।

এপ্রিলে রপ্তানি আয় ৩০১ কোটি ডলার রপ্তানি আয়ে বড় ধাক্কা লেগেছে চলতি অর্থবছরের দশম মাসে। এপ্রিল মাসে রপ্তানি আয় নেমে দাঁড়িয়েছে ৩০১ কোটি ডলারে। এটি চলতি অর্থবছরের সর্বনিম্ন আয়। রপ্তানি সংশ্লিষ্টরা বলছেন, এপ্রিলে টানা ১১ দিনের ঈদের ছুটিতে উৎপাদন বন্ধ থাকায় রপ্তানি আয় কমেছে। তবে, ১১ দিনের বন্ধের পরও রপ্তানি আয়ে প্রবৃদ্ধি দশমিক ৮৬ শতাংশ। পোশাকের রপ্তানি প্রবৃদ্ধিও ১০ শতাংশ। মে মাস থেকে রপ্তানি আয় স্বাভাবিক থাকবে বলে মনে করছেন রপ্তানিকারকরা। সোমবার রপ্তানি উন্নয়ন ব্যুরো (ইপিবি) এপ্রিল মাসের হালনাগাদ রপ্তানি আয়ের তথ্য প্রকাশ করেছে। এতে সদ্য শেষ হওয়া মাসে রপ্তানি আয় কমে দাঁড়িয়েছে ৩০১ কোটি ডলারে। আগের মাসের একই সময়ে রপ্তানি আয় ছিল ২৯৯ কোটি ডলার। সে হিসেবে রপ্তানি আয়ে প্রবৃদ্ধি দশমিক ৮৬ শতাংশ।
