Abdullah Hil Rakib: A leadership that will continue to inspire generations of apparel entrepreneurs : Ashikur Rahman Tuhin, Former Director of BGMEA Ashikur Rahman Tuhin is the Managing Director of TAD Group. He is a former Director of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA). With heavy hearts, members of Bangladesh's apparel industry bid farewell to Abdullah Hil Rakib, Founder and Managing Director of Team Group and former Senior Vice President of BGMEA, as he was laid to rest at the BAF Shaheen Graveyard in Dhaka on 14 June 2025. We are deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic death of Mr. Rakib, a prominent figure in Bangladesh's apparel industry. His sudden passing in a canoeing accident in Canada on 9 June is a heartbreaking loss for the entire industry.

RMG exports see 10.20% growth in Jul-May Bangladesh’s ready-made garment exports during July to May period of the 2024-25 fiscal year registered a 10.2% increase, compared to the same period previous year, according to data from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB). দেশের পোশাক শিল্প যেভাবে রফতানি আয়ের প্রধান উৎস হলো : মো. মহিউদ্দিন রুবেল, বাংলাদেশ পোশাক প্রস্তুতকারক ও রফতানিকারক সমিতির (বিজিএমইএ) সাবেক পরিচালক আজ শুধু বিলিয়ন বিলিয়ন মার্কিন ডলার রফতানি দিয়ে পোশাক শিল্পকে মূল্যায়ন করলে চলবে না, এ শিল্পের ফলে অন্যান্য অর্জনও মূল্যায়ন করতে হবে। দেশের অর্থনীতির চাকা সচল থাকার পেছনে এ শিল্পের অবদান অনেক। কারখানার একজন শ্রমিকের পেটে ক্ষুধা রেখে উদ্যোক্তা শান্তিতে থাকতে পারেন না। শ্রমিক যেমন ক্ষুধার্ত অবস্থায় তার মেশিন চালাতে পারেন না, ঠিক তেমনি উদ্যোক্তা ও শান্তিতে থাকতে পারেন না। একটি কারখানার উদ্যোক্তার কাছে তার কারখানা যেন তার বাসা এবং শ্রমিকরা তার পরিবার। ভুলের জন্য যেমন শাস্তি প্রাপ্য, ঠিক তেমনি দেশ গড়ার কারিগরদের সম্মানও প্রাপ্য। একজন শ্রমিক যেমন সম্মান পাওয়ার যোগ্যতা রাখেন, ঠিক তেমনি একজন উদ্যোক্তা ও তার প্রাপ্য সম্মান পাওয়ার আশা রাখেন। আগামীর পৃথিবী আরো প্রতিযোগিতামূলক ও কঠিন হবে। এ প্রতিযোগিতায় টিকে থাকতে হলে পারস্পরিক সহযোগিতা ও নির্ভরশীলতার বিকল্প নেই।

RMG exports to non-traditional markets rise Garment exports to non-traditional markets grew 6.79 percent year-on-year to $6.04 billion in the July-May period of the outgoing fiscal year, according to data from the Export Promotion Bureau compiled by the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).All destinations except the European Union, the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom are considered non-traditional markets.

এফবিসিসিআই নির্বাচনের তফসিল ঘোষণা দেশের ব্যবসায়ীদের শীর্ষ সংগঠন দি ফেডারেশন অব বাংলাদেশ চেম্বার্স অব কমার্স অ্যান্ড ইন্ডাস্ট্রির (এফবিসিসিআই) ২০২৫-২০২৭ মেয়াদের নির্বাচনের তারিখ ঘোষণা করেছে নির্বাচন পরিচালনা বোর্ড। গতকাল বুধবার এ সংক্রান্ত তফসিল ঘোষণার মধ্য দিয়ে সংগঠনটির নতুন নেতৃত্ব নির্বাচনে ভোটের পালে হাওয়া লেগেছে। তফসিল অনুযায়ী, আগামী ৭ সেপ্টেম্বর ভোট গ্রহণ অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। ওই দিন ভোটাররা একজন সভাপতি, একজন সিনিয়র সহ-সভাপতি ও দুজন সহ-সভাপতিসহ মোট ৪৬টি পদে নেতা নির্বাচন করবেন।

আগামী দুই শনিবার খোলা থাকবে এনবিআরের সব অফিস ২০২৫-২৬ অর্থবছরের প্রস্তাবিত বাজেট কার্যক্রম নির্বিঘ্ন করতে জাতীয় রাজস্ব বোর্ডের (এনবিআর) আওতাধীন কাস্টমস, ভ্যাট ও আয়করসহ রাজস্ব আদায়ের সঙ্গে সংশ্লিষ্ট সব দপ্তর আগামী ২১ ও ২৮ জুন, পরপর দুই শনিবার খোলা থাকবে। সাধারণত সপ্তাহের এই দিনটি সরকারি ছুটির দিন হলেও বাজেট পরবর্তী কার্যক্রম নির্বিঘ্ন রাখতে এনবিআর ব্যতিক্রমী এমন সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে। বুধবার (১৮ জুন) এনবিআরের জনসংযোগ কর্মকর্তা আল আমিন শেখ এক প্রেস বিবৃতিতে এসব তথ্য নিশ্চিত করেছেন।

শ্রীলঙ্কার বিনিয়োগকারীদের অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চলে বিনিয়োগের আহ্বান ডিসিসিআই’র ঢাকা চেম্বার অব কমার্স অ্যান্ড ইন্ডাস্ট্রি (ডিসিসিআই)’র সভাপতি তাসকীন আহমেদ আজ শ্রীলঙ্কার বিনিয়োগকারীদের বাংলাদেশ সফর করে এখানে অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চলগুলোর (ইজেড) অত্যাধুনিক সুযোগ-সুবিধাগুলো প্রত্যক্ষ করার আহ্বান জানিয়েছে। এ ছাড়াও বাংলাদেশ সরকার বিদেশি বিনিয়োগকারীদের বিভিন্ন প্রণোদনা দিচ্ছে উল্লেখ করে এই সুযোগ-সুবিধাগুলো কাজে লাগিয়ে শ্রীলঙ্কার বিনিয়োগকারীদেরকে বাংলাদেশের অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চলগুলোতে বিনিয়োগ করার আহ্বান জানান তিনি। বুধবার কলম্বোর ন্যাশনাল চেম্বার অব কমার্স অব শ্রীলংকায় আয়োজিত ‘অর্থনৈতিক প্রবৃদ্ধি সম্প্রসারণে বাংলাদেশ-শ্রীলংকার বাণিজ্যিক সম্পর্কের উন্নয়ন’ শীর্ষক বিজনেস প্লেনারি সেশনে বক্তৃতাকালে তিনি একথা বলেন।
