Bangladesh rises from 14th to second-largest textile exporter in two decades: report Bangladesh has risen from the 14th position in 2006 to become the world’s second-largest textile exporter in 2025, while Vietnam advanced from 21st to third, with China retaining its position as the largest exporter. Together, China, Bangladesh and Vietnam accounted for about 44 per cent of global textile exports in 2025, marking a significant shift in the global clothing manufacturing landscape, according to Just-style, a leading publisher of global apparel industry information. The suppliers are now scrambling to complete production and ship goods on time, as July to the first week of December is the peak period for Christmas shipments. “Buyers have been asking for timely shipment as many are lagging behind in making the Christmas deliveries on time amid the energy crisis,” said Anwar-Ul-Alam Chowdhury (Parvez), chairman and managing director of Evince Group, whose clients include Levi’s, Armani, Zara and H&M. ইউরোপে অবিক্রীত পোশাক ধ্বংসে নিষেধাজ্ঞা, বাংলাদেশের সামনে সংকট নাকি সম্ভাবনা : মো. মহিউদ্দিন রুবেল, বিজিএমইএ এর সাবেক পরিচালক এবং ডেনিম এক্সপার্ট লিমিটেডের অতিরিক্ত ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক বিশ্ব ফ্যাশন বাজারে পরিবর্তনের হাওয়া বইছে। এর প্রভাব বাংলাদেশের তৈরি পোশাক খাতেও পড়ছে। স্থায়িত্ব বা পরিবেশবান্ধব নীতি এখন আর শুধু তাত্ত্বিক আলোচনায় সীমাবদ্ধ নেই, বরং তা রূপ নিয়েছে আইনি বাধ্যবাধকতায়। এর অংশ হিসেবে ইউরোপীয় ইউনিয়ন (ইইউ) চালু করেছে ‘টেকসই পণ্যের পরিবেশবান্ধব নকশা বিধিমালা’। এই কাঠামোর অধীনে অবিক্রীত পোশাক, পোশাকের অনুষঙ্গ ও জুতা ধ্বংস বা পুড়িয়ে ফেলার ওপর উল্লেখযোগ্য নিষেধাজ্ঞা আরোপ করা হয়েছে। বাংলাদেশের অর্থনীতি যে খাতের ওপর সবচেয়ে বেশি নির্ভরশীল, সেই পোশাকশিল্পের জন্য এই নিয়ন্ত্রণ শুধু পরিবেশগত নীতি নয়; বরং এটি আগামী দিনের ব্যবসায়িক মডেল বদলেরও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ইঙ্গিত। সময়মতো বিষয়টি বুঝে প্রস্তুতি নিতে পারলে এটি ঝুঁকির বদলে সুযোগ হয়ে উঠতে পারে।
