BGMEA President emphases exploring new markets for sustainable growth of RMG sector

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan highlighted the need for exploring new markets for the RMG industry to ensure sustainable growth of the sector.

“In order to increase our export share to non-traditional markets and explore untapped the opportunities of high-end items in our major markets, we continuously need to promote the industry in terms of highlighting our strengths and capabilities,” he said.

Faruque Hassan came up with the remarks while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the first-ever Virtual Edition of the Sourcing Bangladesh 2021, organized by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) on November 15.

Honorable Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, MP inaugurated the online sourcing exhibition "Sourcing Bangladesh 2021 – Virtual Edition" as chief guest. He also inaugurated Bangabandhu Corner on the EPB premises.

In his address as special guest, Faruque Hassan expressed his thanks to the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau for organizing this timely platform for the exporters of Bangladesh and the potential buyers across the globe to meet their respective demand.

Considering the importance of promoting trade, while COVID has caused limitation on physical activities, the initiative of EPB to hold a seven-day long sourcing fair on a virtual platform is a commendable initiative, he said.

“We applaud the initiative of the Ministry of Commerce because it will not only play an important role in increasing the export of the country but also will help to achieve a sustainable growth of the industry in the upcoming days,” he added.
