ACD Survey Report on socio-economic profile of garment workers released

A survey report conducted by the Asian Center for Development (ACD) on socio-economic profile of garment workers of Bangladesh was released at a program held virtually on 6 March.

The study report on the garment workers of Bangladesh is based on a randomized survey conducted on 1,119 workers and managers from 320 factories. The report features findings about workers' social and economic uplift achieved over the past four decades.  

 Labour and Employment Secretary K.M. Abdus Salam attended the launching program as chief guest.

 A panel discussion on the report was held following the launching program.

 BGMEA President Dr. Rubana Huq chaired the panel discussion which was moderated by Editor of the Dhaka Tribune Zafar Sobhan.

 Executive Director of ACD Dr. A.K. Enamul Haque delivered the keynote presentation on the study report.

 EU Ambassador and Head of Delegation to Bangladesh Rensje Teerink, ILO Country Director Tuomo Poutiainen, Executive Director of Policy Research Institute of Bangladesh (PRI) Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, and Distinguished Fellow at Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) Dr. Mustafizur Rahman and BGMEA Vice President Arshad Jamal (Dipu) attended the panel discussion.
