Apparel makers seek fund support from Accord for remediation

The country’s top apparel makers sought financial assistance from the Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh to complete the building remediation process successfully.

They made the request at an exchange of views meeting with the Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh held at the auditorium of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).

Md Atiqul Islam, President, Shahidullah Azim, Vice President, and Reaz Bin Mahmud, Vice President (Finance) of BGMEA, Rob Wayss, Executive Director (Bangladesh Operations) and Brad Loewen, Chief Safety Inspector of Accord on Fire of Building Safety in Bangladesh, were present at the meeting, among others.

Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh is a unity of EU retailers those source apparels from Bangladesh, formed after the deadliest Rana Plaza collapse to work for ensuring workers safety at the factories.

The Accord is scheduled to work for ensuring safety measures at 1800 apparel factories in Bangladesh from where they source garments.
