BGMEA Advances Circular Fashion Agenda at WCEF 2026 in India

BGMEA actively participated in the 10th World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF2026) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India - the first edition of the global forum held in South Asia.

The forum held particular significance for BGMEA as the organization is making efforts to advance circular fashion, sustainable supply chains and responsible business practices across Bangladesh’s RMG industry, under the leadership of BGMEA Vice President Ms. Vidiya Amrit Khan.

Ms. Sara Rahman, Deputy Secretary, Circular Fashion Unit, and Mr. Sajjadul Alam, Sr. Assistant Secretary, Circular Fashion Unit, represented BGMEA in the forum. They participated in high-level sessions and accelerator events, highlighting Bangladesh’s ongoing efforts towards a more circular and sustainable apparel industry.

The delegation joined sessions organized by UNIDO, UNDP, Circle Economy, Indian civil society organizations and academic institutions, including the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). Discussions focused on value-chain transformation, policy and regulatory frameworks, shared responsibility, resource efficiency and sustainable sourcing, with participation from global industry stakeholders including H&M and Intellecap.

BGMEA extends its sincere appreciation to its long-standing partner, Circle Economy, for facilitating participation in this landmark forum and creating opportunities to connect with global circularity leaders. The engagement further strengthens BGMEA’s efforts to support a more resilient, responsible and circular future for Bangladesh’s garment industry.
