The Board of Directors of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), led by its President Mahmud Hasan Khan, paid tribute by visiting the grave of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia.

On Friday morning (02 January, 2026), they laid wreaths at her grave at Zia Udyan in the capital and paid their deep respects. After the tribute, they offered prayers and munajat, seeking forgiveness for the departed soul.

Accompanying BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan were BGMEA Senior Vice President Inamul Haq Khan, Vice President Vidiya Amrit Khan, Vice President Md. Shehab Udduza Chowdhury, Director Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Director Faisal Samad, Director Nafis-Ud-Doula, Director Majumdar Arifur Rahman, Director Kazi Mizanur Rahman, Director Dr. Rashid Ahamed Hossaini, and Director Sakeef Ahmed Salam.

After the ziarat, BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan told the media,

“Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia was an uncompromising leader of democracy, and her contribution to the advancement of the country’s garment industry is undeniable. At this time of national mourning, we express our deepest condolences to her bereaved family and pray that Allah grants her Jannatul Ferdous.”

Following the munajat, BGMEA leaders stood in silence for some time to pay homage to the memory of the departed.
