In view of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association organized a press briefing today to present the latest status of wage and allowance payments to workers in the country’s garment industry.
At the briefing, BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan stated:
🔹 Salaries for the month of February have already been paid in 99.91% of factories; the payment process is ongoing in the remaining 2 factories.
🔹 Eid bonuses have been disbursed in 99.81% of factories; the process is underway in the remaining 4 factories.
🔹 To reduce pressure on highways, holidays are being granted in phases based on different industrial zones, bringing relief to transportation management.
He further mentioned that it has been possible to maintain peace and stability in the industrial areas due to the government’s far-sighted and industry-friendly measures. As a result, workers are receiving their lawful dues properly. He expressed sincere gratitude and thanks to the government, especially to the Honorable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The press briefing, held on 18 March 2026 at the BGMEA Complex, was attended by BGMEA Vice Presidents, Directors, Chairpersons of various standing committees, and officials of the association.
