As part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts under its corporate social responsibility initiatives, the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has continued to support people affected by the recent floods caused by incessant rainfall and hill torrents in Chattogram.

In this continuation, BGMEA formally handed over 200 bags of relief materials to the Superintendent of Police (SP), Chattogram District, on Thursday, 16 July 2026, for distribution among flood-affected communities. The relief materials were received on behalf of the Superintendent of Police by Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Md. Junayed Kawsar.

The relief materials were handed over by BGMEA Acting Vice President Enamul Aziz Chowdhury, BGMEA Director Md. M. Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Former BGMEA Director Khandaker Belayet Hossain, and Chairman of the BGMEA Chattogram Standing Committee on NGO Affairs Riaz Waez. Senior officials from the Chattogram District Police and BGMEA were also present at the event.

Receiving the relief materials, Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Md. Junayed Kawsar highly appreciated BGMEA's humanitarian initiative and expressed his sincere gratitude for standing beside the flood-affected people. He also said that the Chattogram District Police was proud to serve as a partner in this noble initiative and assured that the relief materials would be distributed promptly, transparently, and in an orderly manner to the affected families.

BGMEA leaders stated that standing beside people in times of natural disasters and crises is both a moral and social responsibility. They emphasized that BGMEA has consistently played a leading role not only in the development of Bangladesh's readymade garment industry but also in fulfilling its social and humanitarian responsibilities. They further affirmed that BGMEA will continue such humanitarian assistance initiatives and remain committed to supporting people affected by disasters and emergencies across the country.
