Amer Salim, Chair of the BGMEA Standing Committee on Just Transition, represented BGMEA at the Multi-Stakeholder National Dialogue on “Improving Policy Frameworks for a Worker-Centered Just Energy Transition in Bangladesh’s Apparel Sector”, held on 22 September 2026 in Gazipur.

Organized by the National Alliance for Just Transition Bangladesh (NAJTB) and Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF), the dialogue brought together representatives from government, workers and trade unions, industry and employers’ organizations, civil society, academia, and development partners.

The discussion focused on the evolving energy and industrial transformation of Bangladesh’s RMG sector, particularly the adoption of renewable energy, energy-efficient technologies, cleaner production systems, and automation, alongside the need to address employment security, skills development, occupational safety and health, social protection, and workers’ rights.

Amer Salim contributed the industry perspective to the dialogue, highlighting the importance of ensuring that the transition toward a low-carbon and sustainable apparel industry remains inclusive, practical, and worker-centered.
