The first meeting of the committee formed to review and finalize the Service Level Agreement (SLA) under the Private Participation Renewable Energy-Based Commercial Power Generation/Power Plant Establishment Policy, 2025 was held in Dhaka on November 16.
Vidiya Amrit Khan, Vice President of BGMEA, attended the meeting on behalf of the association.
The committee is tasked with establishing a clear and structured SLA framework to support private-sector participation in renewable energy-based commercial power generation initiatives, which are expected to play a vital role in meeting Bangladesh’s energy transition goals.
During the meeting, participants reviewed the draft SLA and discussed key aspects related to operational standards, performance benchmarks, regulatory obligations, and transparency requirements. The discussions also emphasized the importance of ensuring that renewable energy projects are reliable, cost-effective, and aligned with national priorities for energy diversification and sustainability.
BGMEA expressed thanks to the government for taking a strong initiative to align with international sustainability and decarbonization goals, particularly in response to the evolving demands of the global fast-fashion industry.
Syed Ahmed Ali, Sr. Assistant Secretary at BGMEA, was also present at the meeting.
