BGMEA President emphasizes garment workers’ well-being for sustainable growth

Faruque Hassan, President of Bangladesh Garment Manufactures and Exporters Association (BGMEA), underscores the pivotal importance of prioritizing the well-being of workers for the sustainable development of the ready-made garment industry. 

During his visit to the ‘Primark Health Mela 2024’ at the United International University ground in Dhaka on March 6, Faruque Hassan highlighted the direct correlation between workers’ health and productivity and efficiency.

The exhibition aims to make connections between garment factories and organizations that provide health-related products and services, specifically for RMG workers.

Notable participants included ICDDR, B, Ella Pad, Reemi, Asan, Vision Spring, Orbis, CMED Health, Portable Health Clinic, Dnet, Moner Bondhu, Moner Kotha, Ayat Education, Health Basket, Apon Bazaar, Rise, Square, and Renata Limited.

Neela Hosna Ara, Director in Charge of Health Projects at BGMEA, was also present on the occasion..

President Faruque Hassan emphasized BGMEA’s commitment to ensuring the safety, health, nutrition, and overall well-being of the garment workers.

He also highlighted BGMEA’s ongoing efforts to promote the health and well-being of RMG workers. 

The BGMEA President expressed optimism that other brands would join in supporting garment factories to improve the health of workers.

Garment factories in Bangladesh provide various non-wage benefits, including healthcare centers, eye care facilities, day care centers, fair price shops, schools, and hospitals to their workers.
