BGMEA President for projecting more Bangladesh RMG industry’s journey to excellence and strengths to global audience

Showcasing the impressive and laudable progress made by Bangladesh’s apparel industry is needed to boost its standing in the global arena.

It’s time to tell the world more and more about the impressive stories of Bangladesh’s garment industry and highlight it strengths and capabilities as it would help to build stronger business relations and broaden business horizons.  The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has placed utmost importance to economic diplomacy to project the industry to the global audience and aligned its activities in line with the objective. 

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan made the remarks while speaking at a press conference organized by BGMEA at a hotel in Dhaka on November 20 to share the experience and outcomes of his just-concluded visit to England, Belgium and Scotland.

BGMEA First Vice President Syed Nazrul Islam, Senior Vice President SM Mannan (Kochi), Vice President Shahidullah Azim, Vice President (Finance) Khandoker Rafiqul Islam, Vice President Miran Ali, Vice President Rakibul Alam Chowdhury, Directors Barrister Shehrin Salam Oishee, Asif Ashraf, Tanvir Ahmed, Md. Khosru Chowdhury, Faisal Samad, Abdullah Hil Rakib, Haroon Ar Rashid, Rajiv Chowdhury, Barrister Vidiya Amrit Khan, Md. Imranur Rahman, Mijanur Rahman, A.M. Shafiul Karim (Khokon), Md. Hassan (Jacky), M. Ahsanul Hoq and Mohammed Meraj-E-Mostafa (Kaisar) were present at the media briefing. 

BGMEA Director Md. Mohiuddin Rubel moderated the press conference.

During the tour BGMEA President Faruque Hassan held meetings with stakeholders including brands, international media, and non-resident Bangladeshis living in the UK. He also attended the Bangladesh Investment Summit 2021 held in London in November where he invited UK businessmen to invest in the potential sectors of Bangladesh. 

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan gave closing remarks at the 36th IAF World Fashion Convention held in Antwerp, Belgium on November 8 where he shared impressive strides of Bangladesh’s RMG industry, especially in the areas of workplace safety, environmental sustainability and workers’ wellbeing.

He also held a meeting with the representatives of the department of trade and employment of the European Union in Brussels, Belgium.

The issues of ethical sourcing and price, environmental sustainability, foreign investment in backward linkage industries, capacity building in high-end product manufacturing and others got priority during his discussions with the stakeholders. 

BGMEA Vice President Miran Ali and Directors Asif Ashraf and Abdullah Hil Rakib accompanied the BGMEA President during tour.
