BGMEA accorded a special reception to Hams Garments Limited for achieving recognition as one of the world’s leading green factories with the highest score. The grand event was jointly organised by BGMEA and Hams Garments Limited at the Nurul Kader Auditorium, BGMEA Complex, Uttara.

At the ceremony, BGMEA Senior Vice President Inamul Haq Khan presented a special commemorative crest to Engineer Shafiqul Rahman, Managing Director of Hams Garments Limited.

Also present at the event were BGMEA Vice President (Finance) Mijanur Rahman; Directors Faisal Samad, A.B.M. Shamsuddin, and Faruque Hassan; Engineer Shafiqul Rahman, Managing Director of Hams Garments Limited; Ananta Ahmed, Consultant, USGBC; Engineer Ehsanul Karim Kaiser, Convener of the Interim Committee of the Institution of Textile Engineers and Technologists (ITET); along with Directors and senior officials of Hams Garments Limited.

Currently, Bangladesh has 273 LEED-certified green factories, of which 115 are Platinum and 139 are Gold rated. Among the world’s top 100 highest-rated green factories, 69 are located in Bangladesh.

This BGMEA initiative to honour green excellence is expected to further encourage industry owners to take bolder steps towards sustainable industrialization.
