Business leaders form human chain demanding security

A human chain has been formed today in front of BGMEA Complex in the capital by the three associations of RMG sector, BGMEA, BKMEA and BTMA, in their desperate attempt to demand security for doing business to save the industry.
The human chain being started at 11 in the morning lasted for about two hours.
BGMEA President Md Atiqul Islam demanded adequate security for continuing business in the country in the human chain. He urged the government and the opposition to end the ongoing political impasse by coming to a consensus. He said: “If the garment industry is saved, the country will be safe. How will we pay the bank loans, give our workers their salaries, if we cannot do business because of political unrest?”

Former BGMEA Presidents Anisur Rahman Sinha, Mostafa Golam Quddus, Anwar-ul-Alam Chowdhury Parvez, Anisul Haque, Abdus Salam Murshedy, M Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, Acting President of BKMEA M Hatem , President of BTMA, Jahangir Alamin, Vice President of FBCCI, Md Helal Uddin, former Vice President of BGMEA, Faruque Hassan, Present Second Vice President of BGMEA, SM Mannan (Kochi), Vice President of BGMEA, Md Shahidullah Azim, Vice President Finance of BGMEA, Reaz Bin Mahmood, Office Bearers of BKMEA and BTMA, Directors of BGMEA and other stakeholders of RMG sector were present in the human chain.
The RMG leaders in their speeches said that politics and business are inter-related. If the political leaders remain oblivious about the difficulties the business leaders are currently facing due to the political unrest, the business communities might take to streets with all their employees and workers to force the political leaders bring back stability in the country and create an atmosphere conducive for business.
Saying that they do not want to be scapegoats of confrontational politics, the business leaders demanded quick trial of all the Standard Group factory arsonists.
The participants in the human chain also observed one minute silence mourning the death of the legendary South African Leader Nelson Mandela.
