Discussion on viability of LPG as alternative source of energy

A roundtable meeting was held to discuss prospects and challenges of LP gas use as means of catering to the growing demand of energy in the country.
Md. Tajul Islam, MP, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources attended the roundtable discussion as the chief guest.
Attending the meeting as a discussant, BGMEA Vice President (Finance) Mohammed Nasir said that energy is an absolute prerequisite to tap the potentials of the country’s industrial sector, especially the RMG industry as more development requires more energy.
The country needs to undergo a major change from its existing dependency on dwindling domestic natural gas to various sources of energies including LPG and renewable energy, he said.
Mohammed Nasir added that the government must draw a clear plan for energy supply for the industries so that entrepreneurs can take their decision of investment beforehand.
Business leaders, economists, academics, journalists and others took part in the meeting organized by the Daily Kaler Kantho at the newspapers office on 25 November.
