The Citizens’ Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh, is planning to launch a “Sustainability Business Forum” aimed at advancing both the concept and practical operationalisation of sustainability within Bangladesh’s business ecosystem.

As part of this important initiative, a mobilisation meeting was held at The Westin Dhaka recently to review, and validate the proposed forum’s objectives, scope, and implementation modalities.

Representing BGMEA, President Mahmud Hasan Khan and Vice President Vidiya Amrit Khan addressed the meeting, sharing their valuable perspectives on the challenges and emerging opportunities facing the industry—particularly in relation to sustainability amid Bangladesh’s LDC graduation. They also shed lights on the evolving EU due diligence framework, where increasingly stringent compliance expectations continue to shape global market access.

Dr. Debapriya Bhattacharya, Convener of Citizen's Platform; Syed Nasim Manzur, President of the Leathergoods and Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB), and Asif Ibrahim, former President of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), also spoke at the event.
