A meeting was held on 05 April, 2026 at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Minister of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, Afroza Khanam Rita, MP, to expedite and simplify the import cargo clearance process.

The meeting was attended by Hon’ble State Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, MP, and Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority, Air Vice Marshal Md. Mostafa Mahmud Siddique. Representing BGMEA were former President and current Director Faruque Hassan, Director Faisal Samad, Director Majumdar Arifur Rahman, and Chairman of BGMEA Standing Committee on Airport Cell Md. Nisar Khan.

Following detailed discussions, several key decisions were taken: completion of the damaged canopy work by 12 April 2026; ensuring 24/7 cargo delivery services through Customs, Biman, and C&F agents; completing construction of required racks at the cargo village by 30 April 2026; and granting approval for constructing necessary sheds for courier services. Emphasis was also placed on accelerating customs assessment processes and reducing auction-related time. These measures are expected to significantly enhance the speed, efficiency, and service quality of airport cargo management.
