Fire License Issues Discussed

A discussion meeting was held on 12 April 2026 at the BGMEA building in Chattogram with the Deputy Director of Fire Service and Civil Defence, Chattogram, to address complexities related to fire license renewal and approval.

At the meeting, BGMEA Vice President Mohammad Rafique Chowdhury stated that although the RMG sector is a key driver of the national economy, existing complications in fire safety plan approval and license renewal pose significant challenges, particularly for small and medium factories. He emphasized the need for simplifying these processes.

Director Md. Shaif Ullah Mansur highlighted the importance of ensuring fire security in industrial factories, regular upgrades, and strengthening coordinated efforts between BGMEA and the Fire Service. He also appreciated the support of the Fire Service during critical times.

Director Rakibul Alam Chowdhury stressed the need for technological adaptation in fire safety and regular awareness activities.

Deputy Director of Fire Service and Civil Defence, Chattogram, Md. Jasim Uddin, assured full cooperation in ensuring industrial safety and expressed commitment to taking prompt measures to resolve complexities related to license renewal.

The meeting was attended by former BGMEA directors, garment factory owners, and senior officials from Fire Service and Civil Defence, Chattogram, and BGMEA.
