Foreign Minister invites more Turkish investment

Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni, now in Istanbul, today, urged Turkish entrepreneurs to invest more in Bangladesh taking the advantages of country's investment-friendly environment.
"Due to its strategic geographical location, investment in Bangladesh, a gateway to the South Asia, South-East Asia and Far East, including India and China, offers a market of over two billion people in a region experiencing robust growth," she said.
The foreign minister was speaking at the Bangladesh Business and Investment Forum organised by Bangladesh embassy in Turkey. A large number of leading entrepreneurs in Turkey attended the business and investment meet to explore business and investment opportunities in Bangladesh.
A delegation from the Bangladesh Board of Investment (BOI) and the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) made presentations on several sectors of trade and investment in Bangladesh , according to a message received here from Turkey.
Referring to the duty-free and quota-free access of Bangladesh's products to the European Union markets and preferential access to the developed markets, the foreign minister invited Turkish investors to take advantage of these facilities and invest more in Bangladesh.
The foreign minister claimed her country's investment regime as the most investment- friendly in the region and beyond and also asked the Turkish industrialists to relocate their less- competitive labour-intensive industrial units to Bangladesh to take advantage of the huge pool of trained and competitive labour force.
She also called upon the Turkish traders to import more from Bangladesh to help achieve the set target of US$ 3 billion bilateral trade volume between Bangladesh and Turkey by 2015.
The Forum participants also benefited through organising several business-to-business meetings on the sidelines of the meet having direct business and investment discussions with their respective counterparts.
Earlier, on her arrival in Istanbul on Monday, Dipu Moni attended a working dinner hosted by TUSKON, one of the largest business and industrial organisations of Turkey.
Some members of TUSKON, already involved in Bangladesh in trade and investment, showed keen interest to establish and intensify their trade and investment relations with Bangladesh.
