Innovation Essential for Industry Competitiveness: Inamul Haq Khan

Innovation is no longer a luxury or an optional matter; rather, it is now directly linked to the competitiveness of the industry, ensuring compliance, and securing access to future global markets.

Inamul Haq Khan made the remark while speaking as a special guest at the inaugural ceremony of the Textile Innovation Exchange, held at the ballroom of Le Méridien Dhaka on Saturday, 16 May 2026.

He said that in order to remain competitive in the rapidly changing global industrial landscape, the industry must place the highest priority on increasing productivity, ensuring efficient use of energy and resources, promoting sustainable development, strengthening research and data-driven decision-making, adopting modern technologies, and developing skilled human resources. He further emphasized that there is no alternative to fostering a culture of innovation to ensure the long-term advancement of the industry.

Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Minister of Industries, Textiles, Jute and Commerce, was present as the chief guest at the event. Policymakers, industry entrepreneurs, academics, innovators, and development partners also joined the programme. BGMEA Director Md. Hasib Uddin also spoke at the event.

The Textile Innovation Exchange aims to transform innovation into a measurable, data-driven, and repeatable practice within the textile and apparel industry. Through this initiative, a strong platform is being developed to promote effective collaboration and knowledge exchange among factories, academic institutions, technology providers, researchers, and global partners.
