Productivity improvement in RMG industry stressed

BGMEA Vice President (Finance) Mohammed Nasir stressed the need for improving productivity to tap huge potential of Bangladesh RMG industry in the global apparel market.
Bangladeshi garment factories are increasingly moving from semi-automatic machines to full automatic machines as part of their efforts to enhance productivity, he said while addressing the opening ceremony of a training course on sewing machine maintenance technology at a hotel in Dhaka on 25 February.
Mohammed Nasir also said that it is very important to produce a pool of local skilled technicians for proper maintenance of the modern sewing machinery used in the industry. The training workshop organized by JUKI and the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS) for the employees of garment factories will contribute in this regard, he added.
Chairman of Juki Machinery Bangladesh Ltd Katsumi Nihei, Managing Director of the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS) etsuji Kawakami, Country Representative of JETRO Dhaka Daisuke Arai, Chairman of Juki Bangladesh Ltd Zakaria Bhuiyan, Director and COO, Juki Bangladesh Ltd ABM Shamsul Alam, and Representative of AOTS Dr. Akm Moazzem Hussain, among others, were present at the inaugural ceremony.
