Seminar on inclusive business in RMG sector held

The Center of Excellence for Bangladesh Apparel Industry (CEBAI) in collaboration with ILO RMG Center of Excellence Project organized a seminar to discuss the role of inclusive business in enhancing productivity in the RMG industry.
State Minister for Labour and Employment Md. Mujibul Haque attended the seminar as chief guest while FBCCI President Md. Shafiul Islam, BGMEA President Md. Siddiqur Rahman and Secretary, Technical and Madrasha Education Division (TMED) Alamgir Hossain were present as the special guests.
There was a panel discussion in the seminar. Alamgir Hossain, Secretary, Technical and Madrasha Education Division(TMED), Ministry of Education (MoE); Md. Shafiul Islam, President FBCCI, Md. Siddiqur Rahman, President BGMEA, Md. Atiqul Islam, President, CEBAI and Immediate Past President, BGMEA; Srinivas Reddy, Country Director, ILO; Anders Ohrstrom, Head of Development Cooperation, SIDA; Prof. Ferhat Anwar, IBA, Dhaka University; Arup Shaha, Head Ethical Sourcing, Target Australia; Bablul Akter, Workers Leader; and Tamanna Sarwar, GAP International Sourcing Ltd. made valuable remarks as Panelists. The discussion was moderated by Mohammed Nasir, Vice President (Finance) BGMEA, and Chairperson, RMG and Textile Industry Skills Council (RTISC).
The State Minister said, “Bangladesh adopted Rights and Protection of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2013. To implement the act, the Government is committed to help build productive capacities of Persons with Disability (PWD); provide necessary support to PWDs; increase employment opportunities for the skilled and non-skilled inclusive workforce; enhance the number of PWDs in public and private jobs”.
He appreciated the efforts of Ananta Groups, Bitopi Group and Shin Shin Group for adopting the inclusive business policy in their respective factories. He hoped and requested that other industries will also follow inclusive business policy.
