The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) recently hosted Professor Yoko Niimi and students from Doshisha University, Japan on 10 September 2026 at the BGMEA Complex for an insightful exchange on the future of the RMG industry. Led by Mr. Mohammad Sohel, Director & Coordinator of the Japan Committee, alongside BGMEA secretariat officials, the session highlighted Bangladesh’s leadership in sustainable manufacturing-with over 291 LEED-certified green factories-as well as ongoing advancements in worker welfare, digital innovation, and supply chain transparency. 

A key focus was placed on ethical partnership and fair pricing, inspiring a shared commitment to global citizenship and win-win collaboration. Professor Niimi appreciated the discussion, emphasizing that these initiatives and the expanding opportunities under the Bangladesh-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) will further solidify economic and academic ties between both nations.
