Strengthening Support for Working Mothers in the RMG Sector

On 15 March 2026, the training session for the Dhaka region under the Mother & Child Benefit Programme (MCBP) was successfully held at the BGMEA Complex, Uttara. The programme is an important initiative funded by the Government of Bangladesh through the Ministry of Women & Children Affairs, aimed at providing financial support to lactating mothers working in the RMG sector. Under this programme, eligible beneficiaries receive BDT 850 per month for 36 months, helping to ensure improved maternal and child wellbeing among garment workers.

To support effective implementation of the programme in BGMEA member factories, a series of 10 training sessions are being organized — 8 sessions in the Dhaka region and 2 sessions in Chattogram. The programme provides financial support to lactating mothers working in the RMG sector, contributing to improved maternal and child wellbeing.

The session was attended by Sheikh H M Mustafiz, Director, BGMEA, and Jabed Hossain, Chairman of the Standing Committee on SDP, along with representatives from the SDP Cell of BGMEA. Representatives from the Department of Women Affairs (DWA) and the World Food Programme (WFP) were also present at the session.

BGMEA remains committed to strengthening social protection initiatives and supporting working mothers across the RMG sector.
